Following Creators and Subscribing to Their Content
The creator network is one of the best parts of PrepSmart. Follow your favorite recipe creators to bring their food into your world, and subscribe if you want their full catalog. Following is always free — here's how it all works.
Follow vs. Subscribe
These are two separate things, and the difference matters:
Follow (always free):
- Free, forever — no cost, no commitment
- Every creator you follow seeds 3 free recipes into your account, yours to keep forever
- Food brands, grocery stores, and appliance brands are always fully free to follow too
- Their new recipes show up when you explore, and their food flows into your plan→shop→cook loop
Subscribe (optional, paid):
- Unlocks that creator's full catalog — every recipe beyond the 3 free ones
- Price is set by the creator
- Completely your choice, per creator — add it, skip it, or cancel anytime
You can follow a creator forever without ever subscribing. The 3 free recipes are yours regardless. Subscribing is just for when you want more from a creator you already love.
Important: Creator subscriptions are independent of PrepSmart+. You never need PrepSmart+ to subscribe to a creator — they're two completely separate things. You can have one, both, or neither.
How to Find and Follow a Creator
Browse in Explore
- Open Explore to discover creators and recipes matched to your Food World
- Tap a creator's card to open their profile
- Tap Follow
Open a recipe
- Tap any recipe to see the creator's name
- Tap Follow to follow them
Search
- Use search and look for the creator by name
- Tap Follow on their profile
Once you follow a creator, their 3 free recipes land in your Recipe Box and they become part of your Food World.
Viewing a Creator's Profile
Tap a creator's name or photo to see:
- About — their bio, the kind of cooking they do, and their following
- Recipes — their recipes, with free and subscriber-only ones clearly labeled
- Collections — recipe bundles they've organized (e.g., "Easy Weeknight Dinners")
- Reviews — what other people think of their recipes
- Subscribe — if they offer a subscription for their full catalog
Subscribing to a Creator
To unlock a creator's full catalog:
- Open their profile
- Tap Subscribe (you'll see the price they set)
- Review what's included
- Confirm
Once subscribed, every recipe in that creator's catalog opens up — not just the 3 free ones. You can cancel anytime and keep following them for free.
Subscriptions are decided in the app, whenever you're ready — never during onboarding, and never bundled with anything else.
How Much Do Creator Subscriptions Cost?
Each creator sets their own price. Most land between $2.99 and $9.99 per month, depending on the size and depth of their catalog. A creator might price a subscription around $6.99/month, for example — but the exact price is always set by the creator and shown right on their profile.
Check any creator's profile to see their current price before you decide.
Managing Your Creator Subscriptions
To see and manage your subscriptions:
- Go to Settings > Subscriptions
- You'll see every creator you're subscribed to
- Tap any creator to view their details or Cancel
When you cancel, you keep access through the end of your current period, then the catalog returns to the 3 free recipes. You can resubscribe anytime.
Canceling a subscription doesn't unfollow the creator — you'll still have their 3 free recipes and still see their updates. To unfollow entirely, open their profile and tap Unfollow.
Tips for Finding the Right Creators
Start with the free recipes. Following a creator gives you 3 of their recipes free, forever — cook those first. They're the best way to know whether a full subscription is worth it for you.
Match your Food World. Creators show up filtered to the diet you chose, so the ones you see already fit what you can eat. Look for creators whose style — quick weeknight meals, baking, entertaining — fits how you actually cook.
Read the reviews. Highly rated creators tend to deliver recipes that work.
When a Creator Goes Quiet
If a creator you subscribe to stops posting:
- You keep access to everything in their catalog while you're subscribed
- You can reach out through their profile or contact support
- You can cancel anytime and still keep their 3 free recipes
