Managing Your Subscription (Upgrade, Downgrade, Cancel)

PrepSmart is free by default, and it stays that way for as long as you want. Two optional upgrades sit on top of the free foundation, and you can add either, both, or neither:

• PrepSmart+ — one app-wide subscription ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) with a 7-day free trial.
• Creator subscriptions — a per-creator subscription set by each creator (most run $2.99–$9.99/month) that unlocks that creator's full catalog.

These two are managed independently. Canceling one never affects the other. This guide covers how billing works, how to cancel before your PrepSmart+ trial ends, and how to restore purchases.

What's Free Forever (No Subscription Needed)

Before anything else: you don't need a subscription to use PrepSmart. The free foundation includes the full Plan → Shop → Cook loop:

• Your Recipe Box and sortable Smart Shopping List
• Starter Recipes (a small diet-matched set included with every account)
• Recipes from the brands, stores, and appliances you follow
• 3 free recipes from every creator you follow — yours to keep, forever
• 100% ad-free, always

Everything below is optional. Add it only if it's worth it to you.

Where Subscriptions Are Billed

Both PrepSmart+ and creator subscriptions are billed through your app store — the Apple App Store or Google Play Store — using the payment method on your store account. PrepSmart doesn't run a separate billing portal, so upgrades, plan changes, and cancellations all happen through your store's subscription settings (we link you there from inside the app).

Because billing runs through the store, the cancel and downgrade steps below take you to App Store / Google Play subscription settings, not a PrepSmart-only screen.

Upgrading to PrepSmart+

PrepSmart+ adds four headline features on top of the free foundation:

1. Save & reload any week
2. Import any recipe
3. Shop smarter
4. One pass, many hands

It also includes cloud sync, household sharing for up to 5 people, and offline access.

To upgrade:

1. Open the PrepSmart+ screen (you'll see it on the four-feature upgrade card, or in Settings)
2. Choose your billing option:
   • Monthly: $4.99/month
   • Yearly: $39.99/year — about 11¢ a day, and saves about 33% versus monthly
3. Confirm through your app store's purchase prompt

Your 7-day free trial starts right away and your PrepSmart+ features unlock immediately. The trial is card-required: you confirm a payment method up front, and you're charged only when the 7 days end — unless you cancel first.

Canceling Your PrepSmart+ Trial Before Day 7

If you cancel during the 7-day trial, you are not charged. You keep PrepSmart+ access through the end of the trial window, then return to the free foundation — nothing in your Recipe Box or Weekly Plan is deleted.

Because PrepSmart+ is billed by your app store, you cancel through the store. Give yourself a little buffer (cancel by the evening before Day 7) so a time-zone difference doesn't catch you.

On iPhone / iPad (App Store)

1. Open Settings on your device
2. Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions
3. Tap PrepSmart+
4. Tap Cancel Subscription (or Cancel Free Trial)
5. Confirm

On Android (Google Play)

1. Open the Google Play Store app
2. Tap your profile icon, then Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions
3. Tap PrepSmart+
4. Tap Cancel subscription
5. Confirm

You can also reach these from inside PrepSmart: go to Settings > Subscription and tap Manage subscription, which opens your store's subscription page.

Canceling PrepSmart+ After the Trial

The same store steps apply after your trial converts to a paid subscription:

• Your PrepSmart+ access continues until the end of the current billing period — it doesn't cut off the moment you cancel
• You won't be charged again
• You return to the free foundation, and your saved recipes and Weekly Plan stay put
• You can resubscribe anytime

Changing Your Billing Plan (Monthly ↔ Yearly)

You can switch between monthly and yearly from your app store's subscription settings (same path as canceling — App Store > Subscriptions > PrepSmart+ or Google Play > Subscriptions > PrepSmart+, then choose the other option).

• Monthly → Yearly: the yearly rate applies and your renewal date updates per your store's proration rules
• Yearly → Monthly: your yearly access continues until it expires, then monthly billing begins

Plan changes and any proration are handled by the app store, not by PrepSmart.

Creator Subscriptions Are Managed Separately

Following a creator is always free, and following gets you 3 free recipes from that creator, kept forever. A creator subscription is different — it's a paid, per-creator subscription that unlocks that creator's full catalog beyond the 3 free recipes. Creators set their own price (most are $2.99–$9.99/month).

Key things to know:

• Creator subscriptions are independent of PrepSmart+. You never need PrepSmart+ to subscribe to a creator, and you can subscribe to creators whether or not you have PrepSmart+.
• You decide on creator subscriptions in-app, on each creator's page — never during onboarding.
• They're billed through your app store, just like PrepSmart+, and each one shows up as its own subscription.

To cancel a creator subscription, open your app store's Subscriptions list (same path as above) and cancel that specific creator's entry, or open the creator's page in PrepSmart and tap Manage subscription. Canceling a creator subscription drops you back to that creator's 3 free recipes — and does not touch PrepSmart+ or any other creator.

Restore Purchases

If you reinstall PrepSmart, switch to a new phone, or log in and don't see a subscription you've paid for, use Restore Purchases:

1. Go to Settings > Subscription
2. Tap Restore Purchases
3. PrepSmart checks your app store account and reactivates any active subscriptions (PrepSmart+ and creator subscriptions) tied to it

Restore Purchases works as long as you're signed in to the same app store account that made the original purchase. Your subscription is tied to your account, not your device — sign in on any phone or tablet and your access follows you.

Refunds

Refunds for app-store purchases are handled by the app store, under its own policy:

• Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com
• Google Play: request a refund through the Play Store order history, or Google Play support

If you cancel during your 7-day PrepSmart+ free trial, you're never charged, so no refund is needed. If you were charged in error, contact support with the details and we'll help you sort it out with the store.

Common Questions

How do I make sure I'm not charged for PrepSmart+? Cancel before Day 7 of the free trial using your app store's subscription settings (steps above). Canceling during the trial means no charge.

If I cancel PrepSmart+, do I lose my creator subscriptions? No. The two are independent. Canceling PrepSmart+ leaves every creator subscription exactly as it was, and vice versa.

If I cancel, do I lose my recipes and plans? No. Canceling returns you to the free foundation. Your Recipe Box, Weekly Plan, and Meal Tiles stay saved, and your 3 free recipes from each followed creator remain yours.

Can I pause instead of cancel? There's no pause, but there's no penalty for stopping and starting again. Cancel anytime and resubscribe whenever you like.

I paid but don't see my subscription — what now? Tap Restore Purchases in Settings > Subscription while signed in to the app store account you purchased with. If it still doesn't appear, contact support.

Is there a separate PrepSmart billing portal or login? No. Billing lives in your app store, and you sign in to PrepSmart with your phone number and a one-time code — there's no password and no separate billing account.
